Bone Marrow Registration

On November 25th at the ONS harvest dinner I had a table set up for anyone who wanted to join the Bone Marrow Registry. The registry is a system where people can register to see if their DNA matches anyone nationwide that needs a bone marrow transplant. The process of signing up is easy. There are a few things to fill out and a cheek swab. The whole process takes no more than ten minutes.

I was inspired by Taylor Matt. She is such an amazing and strong seventeen year old. Taylor is from Cazenovia and she has leukemia which is why she is in need of a bone marrow transplant.

Twelve people registered during our drive. She is most likely to find a match within her own ethnic background which is Native American.  American Indians and mix race have a harder time to find their match because only 1% of the registry is made up of American Indians.
