Oren Lyons was honored at the tribute reception held at Goldstein Faculty and Staff on Center on the Syracuse University Campus, Wednesday November 28th 2007. Many people gathered to witness the dedication and renaming of the International Living Center to Oren Lyons Hall. Oren is one of our Onondaga Faithkeepers and a Syracuse Alumni.

The guest list was quite impressive as Chiefs, Clanmothers, and Faithkeepers. Onondaga Nation friends and relatives, Syracuse Alum, S.U. dignitaries, many dignitaries and friends from the surrounding Syracuse community were there to support Oren and to witness this wonderful honor.

Gaenhyageweñh, Kingsley Lyons, started the dedication with the Ganoñhanñyoñh and a short message of greeting to everyone. He also thanked his brother Oren for all the love and support he gave to his younger brothers and sisters throughout the years as they grew up. He voiced his pride in his older brother Joaägwishoñ.

Speakers of the evening included Dean Barry Wells, Mayor Matt Driscoll, President of S.U. Nancy Cantor, and Roy “Slug” Simmons Jr.  Syracuse Mayor Matt Driscoll proclaimed November 28th as Oren Lyons Day.

Oren humbly accepted the award and gratefully thanked all those friends and family who have supported him throughout the years.
