Tracy Shenandoah recently received the International Lacrosse Federation’s distinguished “2008 International Spirit of Lacrosse” award this past July in British Columbia.

Tracy Shenandoah has been a lacrosse player, builder, and cultural supporter in the Onondaga Nation community his entire life.  He played in the Onondaga’s minor lacrosse system as well as on its mens box team.  He is also an alumnus of the LaFayette High School lacrosse team.

In recent years, Tracy has been selected as a vital member of the Iroquois Nationals coaching staff.  He began his tenure with the Iroquois Nationals in 2006 with the Men’s Field Team in London, Ontario.   Again in 2007 and 2008 he worked with the Iroquois Nationals Silver Medalist Team as well as with the recent Under-19 Bronze Medalist Team.  Tracy’s has mentored many young Haudenosaunee lacrosse players through his educational support of lacrosse history and cultural teachings.

Tracy said, “I was really surprise to receive this award.  To receive the Spirit of Lacrosse Award makes me feel very proud.”

The Spirit of Lacrosse awarded to individuals who embody the true lacrosse spirit.  Tracy’s award is much deserved as seen through his efforts and commitment to Dehontshigwiehs – the Creator’s game.

The Iroquois Nationals are very proud of Tracy Shenandoah –

Congratulations!  Niawenha.
